Hire Charges – Annual Review

The Recreation Working Group (RWG) has discussed hire charges relating to the Pavilion, the tennis courts and the football pitches.

The RWG recommend keeping the tennis court hire charge at £6 and for the Pavilion hire charges to remain unchanged. It was requested by members that the Pavilion hire charges are reviewed again in September with a view to implement any changes from the 1st January 2025.

The RWG propose an increase of 4%, in line with inflation, for the football pitch hire. The monthly charge would increase by £5 to £125, with a three-year contract offered to Woodbridge Town Youth Football Club (WTYFC).

This recommendation has been made on the basis that the cost to the council for the greenspace management contract has increased in recent years whilst the charges to WTYFC have remained unchanged for at least 10 years. WTYFC have access to the public toilet and the use the green shed for storage. The office costs associated with the administration of the contract are also a factor.

The hire agreement with the football club is currently under review and will be discussed by RWG before being approved by Full Council before the new football season starts in August.

Councillors are asked to:

  • Note and comment on this report
  • Agree with the recommendation for tennis court and Pavilion hire charges to remain unchanged
  • Agree with the recommendation to increase the football hire charge
