REC(22)49

 Beresford Drive Play Park

A resident had raised concerns about the trip hazards from the cracks in the wet pour. As discussed, and agreed by email in June, we engaged the company installing the play equipment at Hall Farm Road to repair this at the same time.

A section at the end of the toddler slide is lifting and would require works to level the surface and then repairs made to the wet pour. This work could be undertaken as part of the slide repositioning at the Melton Road Recreation Ground.

Further enquires have been made with Playdale regarding replacing some elements. This includes the climbing net in its entirety, wooden sections of barrier and the rope anchor on the Multiplay Junior along with some of the wooden treads from the bridge on the Multiplay Toddler due to split and rotten timbers. The quote was £2,687 and this is to supply the parts only. There is £18,753 in the CIL sinking fund which was to be used to mitigate issues arising from the divested land.

Spare parts, highlighted as needing replacing in last year’s inspection, have been ordered and will be installed in the next few weeks.

The Play Inspection Company will be attending this month. No advance notice will be given and the findings will be reported to Recreation in September, unless anything requiring urgent action is highlighted.

Members are asked to:

  • Note and comment on this report
  • Decide if they wish to proceed with replacing the items on the Multiplay Junior and Toddler equipment or to wait until after the inspection.
