There are plenty of events and other dates coming up that may interest you or others in your own networks, here’s a round up of those events that I’ve either been asked to share or that have otherwise come to our notice, please feel free to share onwards as you please and as ever do let me know if you are aware of or are holding an event or activity that you would like others to know about. As usual please pardon the very short notice on the first few items, plus my apologies if I have missed anything.

Saturday 3 May: Bramfield – Community Day at Foxtail Meadow 10:00-15:00

Join a friendly group of people bringing connection with nature into their lives brought together by Ecotherapy East. 10:00-11:30 – Wheel of the Year Connection; 11:30-15:00 – Land-tending and meadow regeneration. Monday 5 May: Somerleyton – spring walk 10:00

All are welcome to join the Green and Environmental Group for Somerleyton, Herringfleet and Ashby for Spring Walks and learn about the fauna, flora and footpaths in the area around Somerleyton.

Monday 5 May: Carlton Marshes, Storytelling event 13:00

A free storytelling event for all the family at SWT Carlton Marshes in celebration of nature. FREE Family Storytelling morning for the East Anglian Storytelling Festival | Suffolk Wildlife Trust

Thursday 8 May: Leiston, free Bike Fix event

Does your bike need a little TLC to be road safe this summer? Book it in at walkingandcycling@suffolk.gov.uk to have the Bike Doctor inspect and do minor repairs for free. Come to Church Square Leiston at Project40Seven should you just want to have a nose and find out more.

Friday 9 May: online – Hedgelink – working together for the future of hedgerows, 13:00-14:00

Chaired by The Tree Council, Hedgelink is an active partnership working together in the interests of the UK’s hedgerows. Join prominent members for a chaired round table discussion on the future of hedges, and why collective action is so important. Featuring Rob Wolton, Chair of Devon Hedge Group; PTES’ Key Habitats Officer, Megan Gimber; Verity Winn, RSPB Senior Policy Officer (Agriculture); and self-employed professional hedgelayer, Dean Dyer. Saturday 10 May: Lowestoft, beach clean, 10:00

As the good weather arrives we have more visitors enjoying our lovely beaches, sadly, this can also means more litter. So join Suffolk Beach Cleans for their group litter pick on north Denes Beach. All welcome – dogs included. Meet at 10:00 at Links Hill car park.

Friday 16 May: Pakefield – Churchyard Management course 10am-4pm at Pakefield Parish Church

Course delivered by Suffolk WIldlife Trust for churches, parishes and wildlife groups to discover how churchyards can be havens for wildlife and ways to help them continue to thrive. Wilder Communities webpage

Sunday 18 May: Oulton Broad, Wander to Ponder, 14:30

Gentle stroll and meditation for about 90 minutes through woodland and marshland. Look think and consider (free for all ages). Meet at Church of St Michael, Oulton. Facebook

Sunday 25 May: Woodbridge, Mini Bioblitz at Fen Meadow, 10:30-14:30

Monday 26 May to Sunday 1 June: Oulton Broad – build a hedgehog home

Drop in at the visitor centre at SWT Carlton Marshes to build a hedgehog home during May Half Term.

From Monday 26 May to Sunday 1 June, 10am-3pm, come along to the visitor centre to make a hedgehog home to put in your garden. No need to book, £12 per hedgehog home

Tuesday 3 June: Via Zoom – Webinar on Marketing & Social Media 7pm-8.30pm online

Friday 6 June: Cretingham, farm walk – Natural Capital Assets in Practice – Enterprising Farming with Nature

Saturday 7 June: Ufford – Understanding your local River course 10am-4pm at St Mary’s Parish Hall, Ufford
