From Monday 18th November the 71 service will be reinstated.
First Bus advise:
We have kept the singles and returns as close as possible to those offered by PF Travel, but inevitably some will go up and some will go down albeit not by very much.
Singles from Orford to Woodbridge were £3.20 for adults and £2.20 for children, they are now £2.80 for adults and £2.10 for young persons.
Singles from Sutton Heath to Ipswich were £3.50 for adults and £2.40 for children, they are now £3.80 for adults and £2.80 for young persons.
They also had weekly tickets based on individual journeys, whereas our period tickets are zonal. All places beyond Melton fall into our Aldeburgh zone, so again this may result in an increase for some and a reduction for others.
Weekly tickets for Orford to Woodbridge were £21.00 for adults and £14.50 for children, they are now £24.00 for adults and £18.00 for young persons.
Weekly tickets for Orford to Ipswich were £26.00 for adults and £18.00 for children, they are now £24.00 for adults and £18.00 for young persons.
A few things worth noting, our young persons tickets are applicable up to age 19, adult fares start when you reach 20 and we also sell monthly, weekly, 10-Trip and day tickets via our mobile app which are slightly cheaper than those bought on the bus. A range of student tickets are also available via the app and all Aldeburgh zonal tickets are valid for unlimited travel on any of our services within the entire Ipswich area.
The morning journey starts in Orford and finishes at the park and ride site in Martlesham at 08.00, connecting with the service 800 park and ride bus which leaves at 08.05 for onward travel to both Ipswich town centre and Suffolk One. Passengers boarding the 71 will be able to purchase a through ticket to Ipswich and if they do, they will also be issued a transfer ticket. This must be handed to the driver of the park and ride bus along with their single ticket to prove they can travel. The driver will retain the transfer ticket. If a return ticket is purchased, 2 transfer tickets will be issued with it and the passenger should present 1 of them at the start of each of their journeys. If a 10-Trip ticket is used, the driver of the 71 will issue a transfer ticket when they clip a hole in the ticket wallet.
In the evening the bus starts from Old Cattle market at 17.10 as service 70A to Woodbridge via Grundisburgh. When it reaches the Turban Centre it changes to be the 17.45 service 71 back to Orford. Because the journeys are operated with the same bus and driver, transfer tickets won’t be needed for single journeys and there will be a through fare on this service for journeys back to Orford from Ipswich.
