Warm Homes Project – Thermal Imaging

Warm Homes Project – Thermal Imaging

Melton Parish Council applied to take part in a Suffolk County Council initiative to identify heat loss from homes using a thermal imaging camera. We were belatedly allocated a camera in March for less than two weeks.

We discovered rather late in the project that we could only use the camera at night and not in heavy rain. March turned out to be very wet and, at times, snowy. Between the rain and snow, five teams of scanners did their best to scan the properties of people who filled out the application form on our website. Due to the bad weather we did not manage to get to everyone, so if you applied and did not get scanned, please accept our apologies.

We may be able to do more scanning next winter and, if we do, we will make you all aware as soon as we can.  We scanned a total of 37 properties and provided the householders with pictures of their scans and information about where to go for help and advice on insulation.

Information on help with improving efficiency in your home can be found on the Warm homes project information sheet
