Pavilion Update

Pavilion bookings continue to be relatively strong and more one-off hires are being requested, however there have been a few cancellations recently. There are no dates in the diary currently for the pop-up takeaway café to operate.

An incident of ASB took place in the external toilet where toilet roll was used to try and block the pan. The cleaner was inside the Pavilion at the time so was able to clean up and ensure the toilet was functioning. The incident has been reported to the Police and CCTV images of the individuals supplied.

 Tree Works

The tree works on the Saxon Way footpath have taken place.

The Arboriculturist will be reinspecting a beech tree on Love Lane now that the tree surgeon has carried out vegetation removal around the base.

Beresford Drive Consultation

The consultation took place on Saturday 3rd June and was attended by Cllrs Gradwell, Taylor, James and Banks along with the Clerk and Assistant Clerk. A small number of residents attended and dropped off completed forms. The responses so far total around 75.

The closing date for online responses is 30th June. A full report will be given at the next Full Council meeting.

Melton Recreation Ground

Two replacement benches have been ordered. One will be a like for like replacement and the other a 3-metre accessible bench. They are due to be delivered at the beginning of July although the preparatory base work has been carried out this month.

Compensation has been received for the noticeboard and it will be delivered this month ready for the maintenance officer to install it. The board will be slightly further towards the hedge and out of the car park. The bike racks are being installed next to the Pavilion and in view of the play area and are covered by CCTV.

The defibrillator is being installed on the Pavilion on the 14th June and the details will be added to the national network.

MUGA Floodlights

Three electrical companies were asked to quote for the testing of the floodlights near the MUGA to confirm they are no longer live with a view to being removed.

Hall Farm Road Jubilee Green

Some minor ASB to the sleeves surrounding the recently planted saplings in the corner was reported to the police via a resident. The sapling sleeves have since been replaced.

A request has been received for the St Andrews Summer Family BBQ to be held at the Jubilee Green as the church hall will be undergoing renovation. However, signage does state no fires or BBQs on the green. A potential solution would be the event changing from a BBQ to a picnic although there would be no access to public facilities at the green. Alternatively, the Pavilion could be used although the use of BBQs are not permitted at the Recreation Ground either.

Waterhead Lane

A request has been received for the Parish Council to apply for a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) on the trees along Waterhead Lane as they are extreamely vunerable. The trees are on common land.

Recreation Working Group Meeting

The next meeting will be held on the 5th July at 7pm.

Councillors are asked to:

  • Note and comment on this report
  • Agree if they wish to proceed with the testing of the floodlights and appoint a contractor
  • Consider the request to hold the family BBQ at the Jubilee Green
  • Consider applying for a TPO on trees along Waterhead Lane
