OPTIONS CONSIDERED

1.     Renewal of Pavilion Electricity Contract

The contract was due for renewal on 20th April. Quotes were sought from the existing provider (Octopus) and Love Energy (Business Energy Broker). Octopus gave the most competitive rates and we also get a good export tariff as a customer. Advice received was to take a fixed deal on a longer term (standing charges are predicted to rise):

Day rate – 22.69p

Night rate – 17.63p

Standing Charge – 45.06p

The estimated annual cost is £708.27

The best offer from Love Energy was:

Day rate – 23.66p

Night rate – 19.1p

Standing Charge – 46.86p

The previous contract was 36.03p (Day Rate), 25.88 (Night Rate) and Standing Charge of 38p.  Estimated annual cost will drop from £983.09 to £708.38.

Therefore we have signed up to the 2 year fixed deal with Octopus starting on the 21st April 2024. This will also reduce the administrative burden on the office next year and the supply is 100% certified renewable sources.

2.     Price increase for greenspace management contract

A price increase of 4% came into effect from the 1st April 2024. The budget allocated for 2024/25 is sufficient to cover this price rise. The office periodically reviews the contract and looks at other companies, but this provider is currently the best value for money.

3.     Tree Safety Works

The tree safety inspection identified 35 trees requiring safety work – 15 trees to be felled and works carried out on another 20 trees. A quote was received from the tree surgeon for £4,820. The office is very pleased with the work carried out previously by the tree surgeon and believe this quote is very competitive, so no further quotes were sought. £4k from the 2023/24 budget was placed in an EMR to cover most of this cost.
