Local Highways Matters

Speed Indicator Devices
The SID was moved to Yarmouth Road at the end of March. The office is still following up on the original SID which is back with the supplier.

Melton Road Crossings and Traffic Regulation Order (double yellow lines)
Most of the lining was completed on the 26th March. The Clerk met with Highways and County Councillor Nicoll on 5th April and reviewed the work. The lines on Dock Lane should be single rather than double and the lines protecting Fayrefield Road are the correct length but not in the right location. The double yellow lines in the layby by the primary school and the keep clear signs on Woods Lane have also not been marked. Highways are following up with Milestone to get the remedial works carried out (at their cost) and the job finished. No timescale has been provided.

Wilford Bridge Road Speed Reduction
The TRO was readvertised and the closing date for comments was the 6th March. A decision report is currently being prepared by Highways, for the consideration by the Cabinet Member for Development, Transport Strategy and Waste and the Head of Transport Strategy.

Melton Road 3rd Crossing
Highways have provided a ballpark quote for a 3rd pedestrian island crossing on Melton Road near the garage/Spar. The costs are around £20-25k (Construction Costs: £10,000, Road Safety Audit: £1,500, TRO: £7,000 – £10,000 and design time: £400 to £4,000). Cllr Nicoll is willing to contribute £5000 towards the costs and the Active Travel team have been asked if they have any funds they could contribute to the costs.
