On 30 September the pre-examination stage of the Sizewell C Planning Process concluded. Hundreds of residents, community organisations and stakeholders like Natural England and the Environment Agency have sent their relevant representations to PINS.
The DCO application included proposals for materials to be delivered to Sizewell C by road, rail and sea. However, one of the issues people and organisations like East Suffolk and Suffolk County Councils continued to be concerned about was the number of HGV deliveries forecast in the transport strategy. EDF was also asked to provide more reassurance about safeguarding the local environment.
EDF has responded to those views and, with the benefit of more experience from Hinkley Point C, will now be consulting on some new proposals to further reduce the impact of construction on local communities and the environment. EDF’s updated briefing summarises the next steps for the Sizewell C Planning Process and if the public has any questions they should contact EDF on freephone 0800 197 6102.
On 18 November 2020, EDF launched a 30-day public consultation with the publication of a 174-page consultation document on proposed changes to its recent planning application for SZC. The document can be viewed here: https://www.edfenergy.com/energy/nuclear-new-build-projects/sizewell-c The public has until 18 December to provide their feedback on these proposed changes.
