The Friends of Woodbridge Library

If you’re enthusiastic about libraries, would enjoy helping to organise library events and are willing to help with our fundraising activities, please ask a member of staff for more details.

Suffolk Libraries and Friends Charity Goodies

Show support for your local library with a Friends bookmark for £1 – which is magnetic, so you won’t lose your page.

Also available is a Suffolk Libraries “I’m a Borrower” tote bags for £3.50, or for £5 you can receive both the tote bag and as much fiction as you can fit inside!

Citizens Advice – Every Monday 10am – 12pm at the library

Free, confidential and impartial advice to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or disability. No booking necessary.

Open Space – Every Wednesday 1:30pm – 3:30pm

An informal drop-in for anybody interested in their mental health and wellbeing, as well as families and carers. It is run in partnership with Suffolk Mind. Discussions and activities are built from suggestions from the group. Knitting Group – Every Friday 2pm – 4pm

For all types of knitters from expert to beginners, sewing to crochet, come and share your knowledge or pick up some tips.

ArtLib

An art exhibition in the library showcasing local talent. During June, Henry May will be exhibiting his work of landscape oil paintings within Woodbridge Library, free for all to come and view. Henry likes the works of Edward Seago and tries to emulate his work in his own and hopes the viewer thinks it has atmosphere.

Write Now Writing Group – Tuesday 13th June 2pm – 4pm

Are you interested in writing short stories and poetry? Looking to share your work with others and get peer support, exchange ideas and more? We would be delighted for you to join us for our friendly and informal monthly writing group!

Everyone can write – all abilities are welcome. Bring your work or come along and listen to others share their words.

Woodbridge Writers’ Workshop – Tuesday 13th June 5:15pm – 7:15pm

Creative poets and budding authors alike can meet up to share their ideas and gain support from fellow writers at this informal Writers’ Workshop.

U3A Reading Aloud – Thursday 15th June 11.30am-1.30pm 

Reading Aloud chooses a programme of topics and select a range of prose or poetry inspired by these themes. Each member shares their choices by reading them aloud to the group. This is not a drama group or book club, the main aim is to share our pleasure in literature. Members pay a contribution of £3 per meeting in advance to cover costs. Top Time Play Reading – Thursday 15th June 2pm – 4:30pm

A play reading group that reads all varieties and genres of plays in a shared format, taking place on the third Thursday of every month.

Woodbridge Books hosts an evening with Cressida McLaughlin – Friday 16th June 7pm-8.30pm

StorySlam Workshop – Saturday 17th June 3pm-4pm

Interested in writing your own slam stories? Join us for our free workshop with Jennie Fontana and learn how to craft your own engaging short stories. There will be a further opportunity to perform on Saturday 15th July at 2pm. The event is free to attend but donations are welcome.

Gillian Barella (piano) and Romy Hills (flute) will be performing. Numbers are limited so it is recommended that you arrive in good time. Donations to the Friends of Woodbridge Library (FOWL) are welcome.
